All about the course
Is your photography a bit stuck? Do you feel like you’re in a creative rut and your work is looking stale? Or are you frustrated at how to take your shots to the next level? Are you annoyed at how big the gap seems to be between the photos you create and the shots you aspire to? If any of those people sound like you, then I think my RE:Frame course is what you’re looking for. It’s a 1 day session where we dive deep into building creative habits, analysing what sort of work you really aspire to, and sketching out a map to start shooting it This is not your normal course - we don't cover any specific photographic techniques - this is all about your attitude, your vision, your creativity, and your mindset. The best way I can describe it, is a distillation of all the best bits of the photography degree I studied back in the 1990s, filtered through nearly 30 years of professional photography experience. This course is not designed to make you a professional photographer, however, but lots of the habits I've developed as a working professional make up a big part of what we'll be learning. I've structured the day like this: -Creative methodology, and thinking professionally -Getting a better understanding of what your work is about, developing your own briefs, and communicating a concept -Working with your influences - how to build on, rather than copy, other people’s work -Developing craft skill and technique - learning to reverse engineer photographs, and identify gaps in your own technical knowledge -Thinking like a professional - the importance of production, and the non photographic things that go into making a great shot -Learning to trust your gut instincts as you develop your world view and personal vision. You will need a basic photographic knowledge to take this course - I'm assuming you know the technical basics of exposure and understand what different lenses do - that sort of thing! The Venue is upstairs at Tonbridge Old Fire Station. There are nearby car parks, along with several bus routes, and Tonbridge station is less than 10 minutes walk away. There are breaks for coffee, lunch, and a 10% discount on food and drink in the cafe downstairs - although you're welcome to bring your own food.
